What I got for Christmas

We had a lovely Christmas.  Due to a quirk of family scheduling, we opened presents across 4 days and now I'm kind of afraid my kids will want presents tomorrow too, but whatever.

23rd, presents from the roommate leaving town. 24th, the whole family Christmas deal and presents with most of Ben's family. 25th, our own Christmas morning and then family Christmas with my family.  26th, today, we opened the presents from the quarantined family- they have flu and between all our activities we haven't actually seen them in person. Presents got exchanged through my BIL.

Darius is over the moon with the toys he got- he's surgically attached to his new toy cars, he loves banging things with his new tool kits (yes kits) and he's just quite pleased. December likes the stuff that makes noise; obviously a 6 month old can't be expected to care all that much.

However! I woke up yesterday feeling a little hoarse and by the end of the day couldn't speak at all.  This morning, the only verbalizations I can produce are weak, squeaky coughs and breathy whispers.  I've been sucking on a cough drop and it doesn't seem to be helping.  Once that's gone I'm under orders to take DayQuil.

This makes it the third week we've missed church because of illness. The little bacterium are running a conspiracy.

Sadly, despite the loveliness of Christmas, there's been a lot of yuck running around.  SIL and Co with the flu, us with the cold/laryngitis/coughing (even the baby is hacking like a chain smoker) and well, it just really screwed some things up.  Unfortunately, viruses wait for no one.

Now I go to crawl in my hole....
