life is ongoing

I left my job at the beginning of January. I couldn't keep up anymore, and it was deeply unpleasant. Plus, my hypoglycemia went totally bananas. One night I woke up because of round ligament pain, only to discover my blood sugar was so low I was nauseated and shivering. The shivering shook my entire bed, it was so intense. Thankfully Ben was home and force-fed me graham crackers and apple juice until I got better.

Maybe the money will be a little tighter, but it won't be all that bad- apparently I only made $600 in a little over 2 months, which is highway robbery for the amount of work I did. And Ben recently got a promotion at work with a $1.50/hr raise attached, with an additional .50/hr possibility if he meets certain standards. I'm so much happier being able to be at home with my son, and take care of myself like I need to. I literally have to eat about every 2 hours, something that I couldn't do while I was working.

Speaking of pregnancy... we're having a girl! YAY!!! Yes, we're super excited, even though almost none of our baby clothes are appropriate and we'll have to get other ones. Who cares? I get a little girl! (Squee!)

Everyone else is pretty excited too, I think. Ben certainly is. My mom was over the moon when I told her.

As far as how Button will react to the new baby, I'm pretty confidant that he'll be fine. My MIL has started babysitting a 6mo baby girl, and I went over there with Button last week to hang out. Button loved this little girl. He kept wanting to play with her and give her big sloppy kisses, possibly because she was the only target who couldn't fight back. (He'd laid smooches on me and his fussbudget cousin, who freaks if he even sees Button coming sometimes.) He's a little rough, which is understandable since he's only 11 months old, but I can work with that.

Button will be a year old next month! Dude! It's cool and weird at the same time. Another part of me thinks it's about time- the kid is in 18 month clothes, and fills them out. He's HUGE. His shoes are a size 5 in toddlers', for cryin' out loud. He is Mondo Baby.

He won't be in the baby stage for much longer, however- he's on the verge of walking. He'll get around by hanging on to furniture, and he can stand up if he's near something to grab hold of. Right now his problem is mostly one of confidence. I stand by my prediction that he'll be walking at 13 months. (His 14mo cousin still doesn't walk. My baby is better, ha!)

My mom and I went to Ikea. Now I want to buy oodles of baby furniture that I have no money for. But seriously, Ikea rocks my socks. My mom got a play tent for Button for way cheap.

Speaking of Button, he needs breakfast....
