reversal

So, maybe the world isn't entirely set against us.

Turns out that my husband not getting the job involved a self-willed HR director and some measure of miscommunication/clerical error. Yesterday morning he got a call asking if he could come in and start the training, even if it would be a day late.

This, however, posed its own problem. I had an 11 o'clock appointment for a pregnancy test, and had to drop off a job application a few towns over. We have 1 car. Originally my mom was going to play chauffeur, but she and the rest of the household had come down with the flu. Yuck. So my MIL was wonderful enough to step up, and drove me to the application dropoff. She had an appointment with a lawyer at 10:30, so my appointment was pushed back by a day. She'll be driving me today, too. Hopefully this place will give me the paperwork I need, and I won't have to go see a obstetrician and fork over money we don't have. Case in point- we paid our car payment yesterday, so as to avoid credit issues. It flattened our bank account. Sigh.

So, this job I've applied for. It's a teaching assistant job with the local school district. My sister-in-law has been bugging her supervisor about hiring me, so the odds of getting a job seem pretty high. This time. I've applied for various TA jobs something like 4 times, and received a very nice "position has been filled" letter every time, without so much as a single callback. When I dropped the paperwork off, though, the supervisor seemed very confident that I'd at the very least get an interview. That would make me so happy.

Sooooo, today I officially find out about the pregnancy issue. Yay.
